Kasumi's dual-grit whetstone has an extra-course 240-grit side for rough shaping and edge correction. Use this side for extremely dull knives or to work out nicks and burrs that may occur on a knife edge. The medium coarse 1000-grit side is great for monthly maintenance of your knives. As with all whetstones, we recommend sprinkling some water on your stone during sharpening, for lubrication and cleaning of the stone.
