The Shun 8 inch offset bread knife has a blade that is not centered. This blade of this easy to use knife from Shun is approximately an inch off the center of the handle. This offset blade enables you to slice all the way down to the cutting board. That's not possible with a straight knife without hitting your knuckles as you slice. A bread knife is a slicing knife that's serrated to saw through tough, crusty breads without crushing the delicate textures beneath. You'll get even slices of bread every time because the angle and placement of the Shun knife blade helps to maintain an optimal slicing angle.

  • recommends washing your knives by hand and immediately drying them. Do not let your knives soak in water.
  • Avoid cleaners containing bleach or citrus extracts, as they may stain the surface of your knives.

  • To maintain a sharper cutting edge, use a sharpening steel, preferably each time after using your knives.
