We had a fairly inexpensive bread knife for 20+ years. When the old one was stolen, I had to replace it because we really use a bread knife. wusthof was a brand I was familiar with and they had a 10" bread knife - important for large loaves. we are thrilled with this new knife. It slices all kinds of breads - crusty, soft, dense. I would recommend this knife.
