Zwilling JA Henckels Four Star 5 inch santoku knife with hollow edge utility knife The Santoku knife from Henckels is also known as an Asian chefs knife. It has a broad blade and an extremely sharp cutting edge. The blade is more curved at its tip when compared to a regular chefs knife. The santoku knife, like a cooks knife, can be used for cutting meat, fish and vegetables for all types of dishes. This JA Henckels knife has a lifetime guarantee, evidence of its great German-made quality.

The hollow edge of this versatile Asian chefs knife helps to prevent foods from sticking to the blade, making your cutting jobs much faster to complete.
  • This Henckels forged knife is extremely sharp and strong because it is made from one piece of rust resistant stainless steel.
  • A special metal divider, called a bolster, helps to protect your hands from the sharp blade.
  • The knife has a full tang, which means the blade actually extends all the way to the end of the handle. You just can't see it. A tang adds strength and durability.
  • Both a bolster and a full tang are essential elements of top quality, long lasting knives.
  • The JA Henckels Four Star line of cutlery has a more modern handle design than the traditional 3-rivet look. It also has an extended base for easier handling.
  • You'll appreciate the hygienic handle, crafted from a special resin blend that's germ-resistant.

  • recommends washing your knives by hand; then immediately drying them. Do not let your knives soak in water.
  • Avoid cleaners containing bleach or citrus extracts. They may stain the surface of your knives.
  • Always use a wooden cutting board to preserve blade sharpness. Cutting on hard surfaces such as stone, metal or glass quickly dulls blades.
  • To maintain a sharper cutting edge, use a sharpening steel, preferably each time after you've used a knife.
  • It's best to store your Henckels knife so its edge and your fingers are protected, preferably in a block or in-drawer knife tray.
  • We suggest using a meat cleaver when you need to cut through bone, otherwise you can damage your knife blade.
  • Lifetime warranty from Henckels
  • Made in Soligen, Germany, knife capital of the world.

I started buying my Four Star knives back in the early 70's. I had had a couple of different brands of mediocre knives and hated them all and decided to bite the bullet and start out one at a time. Well, here I am years later and 12 knives, plus the sharpening steel, meat cleaver, poultry shears, meat fork, 6 steak knives to my set. I had to replace my block a couple of time to be able to accommodate all of my wonderful knives. Two years ago I bought a 7" Santoku and now I am about to buy the 5" one. They keep a great edge and also sharpen up really well. My only problem was when I was gone one of my boys put my filet knife in the dishwasher (against my rules) and it fell down and the handle was burned (but still works lovely). I feel every woman deserves the very best kind of knives in the kitchen and in my opinion these are the very best. Can I give them a 10 star? LOL
