My First Knife is a perfect starter knife for little hands--and it's designed with young chefs' safety in mind. A rounded tip and heel mean the only sharp part is the cutting edge. Small serrations help grip the food securely for non-slip cutting. Hollow-grinds in the blade help food release from the blade easily. The handle is specially designed to be easy for smaller hands to grip and contoured to naturally guide a child to a comfortable and effective grip.

Kids love to help in the kitchen.
  • Rounded tip and heel, serrated edge for safety
  • Hand honed 16 degree cutting edge
  • 420J stainless steel
  • Textured handle for a secure grip

  • Blade measures 5.25 in. (13.3 cm)
  • Ambidextrous handle is perfect for both left- and right-handed users
  • Includes matching sheath for safe and secure storage & instructions
  • When you teach knife skills early, kids will be safer in the kitchen.

  • MetroKitchen.com recommends washing your knives by hand and immediately drying them. Do not let your knives soak in water.
  • Avoid cleaners containing bleach or citrus extracts, as they may stain the surface of your knives.
  • For longer lasting knives, cut on a wooden cutting board. Cutting on hard surfaces such as stone, metal or glass quickly dulls blades.
  • To maintain a sharper cutting edge, use a sharpening steel, preferably each time after using your knives.
  • It's best to store your Shun knife so the edge and your fingers are protected, preferably in a block or in-drawer knife tray.
  • We suggest using a meat cleaver when you need to cut through bone, otherwise you can damage your knife blade.
  • Shun knives don't need frequent sharpening because they are made from 32 extremely durable layers of stainless steel.
  • Lifetime limited warranty from Shun with normal use and proper care.
  • Made in Japan
  • Free lifetime sharpening from Shun. Pay only for shipping; $5 for the first knife, $2 for each additional knife. Please print and complete this form and ship to Shun with the knives you'd like to have sharpened.
